Watching herself

Reagan loves to watch the videos of herself. She asks to see specific ones like "see go weeee". A few weeks ago I recorded a video of her watching herself. Take a look...

Getting closer to 2

Reagan is 19 months old today. I can not believe how quickly time has passed. I have tried to capture every second of her babyhood and am thankful that I have recorded so much of it! What did people do without digital cameras? Its weird to think that in 19 months of our adults lives not much changes; however, in Reagan's life so much has happened!

A glimpse into what's in store for us...

Reagan hits when she gets mad. Any amount of frustration results in throwing toy or just smacking you (or Boone). We have been really stern with no hitting and only use nice touches. So after she hits we remind her that hitting isn't nice and hurts people and then show a nice touch (which usually involves stroking my hair and Reagan saying "thats nice"). We decided to start putting her to time-out when she hits to keep reiterating that it is not ok. So when she hits, we say "hitting isn't nice, you need to go sit". Then we put her in the corner beside the desk. She sits there very quietly without protest. And usually says sorry when you tell her to get up and come play. Now... when she hits you she immediately says "go sit". Even yesterday, she said "go sit" before she smacked at me! Hmmmm... I think she is going to be a tough nut to crack!

Our favorite sayings

Lately, when people ask me how old Reagan is and I reply "18 months", they will get a smile on their faces and say "Oh, that's my favorite age". It really is a great age. One of our favorite things is how many different words Reagan is saying, or trying to say at least. Therefore, I thought I would share some of our favorite Reagan mispronoucations.

5. No (pronounced naw)
4. Trash (pronounced tarsh)
3. My milk (pronouced my milts, emphasis on the t)
2. Read a book (pronouced readabutce, all one word)

And the winner is...

1. Juice (only its pronounced Shoe-f and you have to stretch it out)

Cute

Tonight when I tucked Reagan into bed- she rolled over onto her side, clasped her hands together under her chin, and pretended to snore.

I couldn't help but giggle. What a ham. :)

Using mommy's pen

You can not use a pen with Reagan around unless you intend to share it with her! I was writing something on the calendar when Reagan decided to help me. I let her use the pen and she discovered how easily she could write on her hand! She was cracking up and saying "ooooh" when she made a mark.

Sledding photos

These photos accompany the sledding video I posted below.

I totally forgot what a pain it is to get ready to play in the snow! We spent forever gathering warm clothes. Then by the time we were dressed, all of us were sweating! We couldn't keep Reagan's mittens on, so I just made it so she couldn't get her hands out of her coat!

My little snow bunny... it was more like marshmallow!

If you watched the video, you can see that Boone was super excited about the sled riding. He chased us the entire time! When we stopped to get our picture taken, he would not stop licking me. Notice the tongue!

"Weeeee"

Over the weekend, we took Reagan sled riding for the first time. I went to four different stores looking for a sled!! You would think January would be a good time to purchase one. Definitely not the case. Nevertheless, I found one and we had a great time in the snow!

Our version of sled riding was a little weak for experienced sledders. Daddy just pulled Reagan around the yard and driveway. She LOVED it!!! She laughed and shouted "weeee" the entire time. She kept falling over but she didn't mind at all. Ever since, she keeps saying "dressed" "go weeee" "snow". So I suppose that means we will have to head back out there again soon! Maybe we will actually find a small hill somewhere...

Reagan's first haircut

Today we took Reagan to get her first haircut! I thought it would be better if we took her to a kid's salon because they are more familiar with cutting baby hair than someone at a walk-in place. Overall, it went well. Reagan was crying a little on and off. We kept her distracted with Elmo songs on TV and a sucker.

Snow day!

Reagan and I thoroughly enjoyed our snow day yesterday. We spent the day playing and cuddling while daddy went to work. Honestly, the roads weren't even bad. I think everyone was nervous about it getting really bad during the day. Regardless of the reasons, we had a wonderful day!!

18 month well check

We took Reagan to the doctor for her 18 month well check up. Overall, everything went well. Reagan does not like to go to the doctor; she gets nervous and clingy as soon as we get into the parking lot. We try to just distract her. It worked pretty well today. She cried a lot when the nurse was measuring her, but calmed down after a little while. She was great while the doctor was talking with us. Her current stats are:

Weight: 24 lbs
Length: 32 inches

They didn't tell us what percentile she is in. I am guessing that means she is still in the 50% for both.

We were shocked to find out that she has another ear infection! She hasn't had a fever or been acting fussy. Earlier in the week she was waking up in the night, but the past **knocking on wood** 2 nights have been good. The doctor said "doctors" don't believe you can get an ear infection from teething but many parents say you can. Reagan is currently get 4 teeth (her canines). I definitely think there is a connection! She gave us a prescription for antibiotics in case it gets worse but for now, we are going to wait and see.

She said Reagan's verbal development is beyond phenomenal! We know she is such a chatter but it is nice to hear it from the professionals. At a year old, Reagan said about 43 words. It has probably doubled since then. I am glad she talks a lot, then we know what she wants!

And of course, there were 3 shots. Shots are ridiculous and awful. The look of agony in her face is too much for mommy to handle. Thank goodness they are done quickly.

We go back for another check when she turns two. Turning two is going to be a hard one. I can't even think about it...

Having a ball

Aunt Hally got Reagan a small inflatable ball pit for Christmas. It came with 20 balls and was SUPER sad looking when she played in it. Twenty balls was definitely not enough. Therefore, I bought 150 more of them at Target. It definitely helped liven things up! Reagan loves to play in it. As you can imagine, we have these balls all over the upstairs of our house.

Throwing her balls around.

Check out the static!

A video

Reagan loves to read. She got her book, hopped up on the couch, and started reading. Of course, it didn't last once she realized I was recording her. Also, notice Boone curled up and dead asleep beside her! He is such a good dog ((most of the time)).

Say Cheeezzzz

While Reagan was eating her snack, she brought me the camera and said "cheeeeezz". What a stinker!

She is growing so much everyday. Tonight, I swear she grow while we were giving her a bath! She also has 4 teeth coming in right now. I hate teething and can not wait until all those little suckers are finally in!

Hello 2010!

Of course, the new year brings about the idea of new year's resolutions. One of my resolutions is to try to update my blog more often. Sometimes I am really good about posting; sometimes I am not. Therefore, I am going to give it my best effort and try to post about the happenings in my family!

Looking ahead into 2010, we have many plans. I will just name a few of the big ones.

1. Sometime in the spring, we are really hoping to get some baby news. We are going to be praying for a healthy and successful pregnancy. Reagan definitely needs a little brother or sister.

2. We are planning our first family vacation! We will be going to a friend's wedding in July. The wedding is in Charlotte, NC. So we will just continue east and head to the beach for a few days. I am super excited to see Reagan at the ocean. However, I am super nervous about the car ride.

3. In August 2010, I will officially get my Master's Degree!!! Wahoo!! I will admit, I am not dedicated to grad school at all. However, I will be happy to be done and so will our bank account!

I know time will go quickly and our little daughter will contine to grow up. Therefore, my other new year's resolution is to keep a positive attitude and enjoy every moment.

Good-bye 2009...

Its hard to believe the new year has arrived. I will admit, I am looking forward to 2010 and am hoping it will bring us some happy news! A year goes by so quickly; yet so much happens in that time. I thought I would reflect on 2009 with some photos of my favorite little lady.

Jan. 2009- At this time, Reagan was only 7 months old. Here she is playing in her pack and play.

Feb. 2009- Reagan wanted to walk so badly! This photo was taken at my cousin Val's wedding. We spent the entire evening bent over walking with her.

April 2009- Reagan was 10 months old. She started eating all solid table foods. Here she is with some strawberries.

June 2009- Happy birthday Reagan!!

August 2009- Reagan definitely has her mommy's hair.

October 2009- In this photo, Reagan has pink eye for the third time. She is enjoying her reward after getting drops in her eye. As you can imagine, naked babies are easier to clean up.

Dec. 2009- 18 months old and Reagan is a kid! In this photo she is wearing daddy's work shirt. Dressing up is one of her newest interests.
Looking through Reagan's photos is definitely bittersweet. I am not ready to let go of those little baby days. However, I love how much personality she has now. I love that she chats with us and understands everything. I love that she plays with her babies and cooks in her new kitchen. However, I don't love the attitude-- I doubt the new year will cure that one.
